During the event, MDC providers, Dr. Nathan Rusher, Dr. Charis Brooks, and Dr. Hannah McKenzie will provide free Dental screenings and consults to area children throughout the day. Nearly one in four children under the age of five already have cavities, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ‘Give Kids a Smile’ is an annual event, sponsored by the American Dental Association, to raise awareness of the epidemic of untreated dental disease occurring locally and nationally and create local public and private partnerships to increase access to oral health care to solve this crisis. “GKAS Day is a great way to introduce young children to the dentist,” states Sterling Health Care Dental Director, Dr. Nathan Rusher. “The dental screening is quick, easy, and free.” Sterling Health Care, is a Federally Qualified Health Center, headquartered in Mount Sterling, which provides Primary Care, Pediatrics, Women’s Care, Dental, and Behavioral Health for Montgomery, Bath, Menifee, Nicholas, and Clark counties.
