Goodpaster Earns Certification

JANUARY 25, 2023 - CARLISLE, KY - Stephanie Goodpaster, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) for Sterling Health Care, recently completed a certification allowing her to diagnose and manage Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Goodpaster, an LCSW currently focusing her efforts at SHC’s Carlisle clinic and Nicholas County School-Based Health, completed the training to gain certification as an ADHD Clinical Services Provider, or ADHD-CCSP.

“It is more focused on helping people understand their condition,” she said. “I can also help them design a treatment plan that works for them that helps them with symptoms of ADHD. The lack of connection between the seven executive functions is really what is causing ADHD.”

The training, which she began in May 2022, required her to complete over 30 hours of training videos, with an extensive quiz at the end of each to ensure she understood the content. She was also required to have 200 hours of managing ADHD, which she had already gained through her six years of social work experience. The certification will allow her to help her patients manage symptoms of ADHD, as well as allowing her to help families understand ADHD through school-based health.

Dr. Leslie Aslam, director of SHC Behavioral Health, believes that the training will greatly benefit patients.

“Stephanie is already an outstanding therapist.  She helps a lot of kids with ADHD, and this specialized training makes her even better equipped to help her patients.  The skills and knowledge she has acquired will benefit not only the kids in Nicolas County Schools, but also her adult patients in Carlisle.”

Sterling Health Care’s mission is to improve the lives for all people in the communities we serve, through improved health, regardless of their ability to pay.
