Sterling Health Care’s acquisition of the Mt. Sterling Clinic is a significant healthcare milestone for Kentucky’s Gateway region. Beginning October 1, 2026, patients and the communities in and around Montgomery County will witness a new level of healthcare that is possible only by the combination of these qualities:

Care and Providers
Yes. To ensure optimal comfort for MSC patients during and after this transition, patients will stay with their current provider.
Yes, you are still scheduled on the calendar. However, you may see a slight change in the appointment time.
Yes, SHC and MSC use the same electronical medical record, which is very important because it means your records will transfer into the SHC system with no efforts required on your part.
No, you can still call in for refills or initiate a refill through your provider at your visit. Of course, you continue to have the opportunity of using one of SHC’s pharmacy at any time but effective on January 1, 2027, you will enjoy a greater option. As a new patient of SHC, you will have accessibility to receive significant discounts at any of our four on-site pharmacies through the 340B program. Under current government guidelines, this program provides many medications at reduced cost.
There is no requirement to change pharmacies on your part. However, SHC does offer four on-site pharmacy options mentioned above that offers tremendous convenience for our patients. Our staff will be happy to help you transfer so you may enjoy this additional service and cost savings.
Insurance & Billing
Yes, SHC accepts all insurances and has a Sliding Fee Policy for uninsured patients, based on eligibility.

Any bills prior to October 1, 2026, dates of service are still owed to MSC.  Going forward on or after Oct. 1, all appointment fees will be payable to SHC.
SHC is excited to say nearly all of the MSC staff will be joining us during this transition, so Gail Creech will be the contact for questions in this area.
Your bill for appointments after that date will come from SHC.
Communication
Currently, it is our understanding that your same patient portal will be available for your continued use… every effort is being made to ensure your information transfers in its entirety in Athena, your electronic medical record provider.

Additional Services
SHC offers a current fleet of 11 transportation vehicles for all of our valued patients to schedule and utilize for services. As details of the transition continue to be ironed out, your new SHC team is committed to working out details of transport as the need arises. Please contact MSC at 859-498-0200 to begin your request process.
Yes, this service will be available on the IPAD application. At this time, no such service will be available in person until the move to the campus location is completed.
When will MSC move to the SHC Campus Clinic site?

At this time, the anticipated move date will be on March 1, 2027.  Upon completion of the location move, the MSC phone number will be incorporated into the SHC system.
